How it works

• A “bang,” generally speaking, is a challenge that involves collaboration between creators. Most often, writers will write fics, and artists will choose a fic to create accompanying artwork for.
• In this case, participants are welcome to sign up as Openers or Closers. Openers will create a work (art OR fic), while closers will create a companion work (art OR fic) based on the first work.
• You’re welcome to sign up as both, as long as you don’t try to collaborate with yourself. (That sort of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?)
• During round 2 (Closer sign-ups), we’ll also be taking beta reader sign-ups if any writers request them.

Guidelines

Participation

This event is 18+ only. We’ll keep in touch with participants through a Discord server. Invites will be sent out as participants sign up.

Participants can sign up under one of three tiers:

• Tier 1: a sketch or 500 words
• Tier 2: lineart or 2500 words
• Tier 3: colors & shading or 5000 words

You're welcome to create a work that surpasses your tier requirements, but the higher tiers exist for anyone who would like an extra challenge/commitment. Participants are signing up with the knowledge that their collaborator’s work may fall under any of these tiers.

Content

• Works must involve some sort of polycule between Adam, Tadashi, Reki, and Langa.
  • “Polycule” is defined as a connected network of people in non-monogamous relationships, so take that however you’d like. They can be boyfriends, husbands, fuck buddies, queerplatonic partners— any combination of any types of intimate relationships!
• Works don’t have to have their relationship(s) pre-established; “getting together” type works are more than welcome.
• You’re welcome to focus on a specific character, pair, or triad within the group, as long as the polycule exists and a relationship is in focus.
• Other characters can also be involved in said polycule, but the main focus should be on some combination of the main four.
• Otherwise, there are no content restrictions. Please tag your work appropriately so that other participants know what they’re getting into.

❓ Do the pairs have to consist of an artist and a writer?

Nope! Matching has nothing to do with what type of fanwork you’re creating. Artists and writers alike can sign up as Openers or Closers.

❓ How do I collaborate with someone using the same medium as me?

A Closer's work is meant to be inspired by an Opener's work! For example, if an artist decided to draw a foursome, their artist partner could draw the fancy dinner date that preceeded it. If a writer wrote about a beef at S from Reki’s POV, their writer partner could write it from Adam’s POV. If you need any help brainstorming, you have a collab partner and a server full of lovely creators to help!

❓ Can I switch tiers after I sign up?

Yes. Tiers are just what you’re willing to commit to, and what the mods will expect by the end of the event. If you create something over the tier you committed to, you don’t need to change anything. But if you’d like to go down a tier, just let the mods know!
