How this works:

1. Creators sign up. You don't have to be a seasoned fic author to participate; this is all for fun!
2. The list of participants is randomized to decide the order of writing.
3. The first participant (A) on the list begins the fic, and submits their work in a form.
4. A's work is sent to the second participant on the list (B), and B continues A's work.
5. B's work is sent to the next participant on the list, and so on and so forth.
6. Eventually, we have a complete fic that may or may not make any sense!

(Think Frantic Fanfic, but you don't have to be online at a specific time to play.)

Requirements

• You must be 18 or older.
• You must be able to read and write in English. (It doesn’t have to be perfect, just enough to participate!)
• You must be willing to put aside time within a 3-day period to write a piece ranging from 100-1500 words.
• You must be willing to collaborate with others without putting their ideas down.

That’s it! You don’t have to be a professional author, or even have written fics at all before. This is just for fun 👍

Content Guidelines

• The theme for this round is Eiden’s Birthday! There’s no guarantee we’ll have it finished on time, but it’s the thought that counts.
• I don't expect many things about these fics to be consistent, but for clarity’s sake, we're going for past tense & third person POV.
• There are two different fics available to sign up for, ‘Light Territory.’ and ‘Dark Territory.’ You can sign up for both if you’d like.
  • ‘Light Territory’ should not include any explicit content, but canon-typical references to sex and violence are fine (think main NU: carnival story, outside of the H scenes themselves). The content should be generally lighthearted.
  • ‘Dark Territory,’ while still subject to the guidelines listed below, is open to any sort of content. This includes smut, kinks, ‘dead dove,’ etc. Please only sign up for this fic if you’re willing to read and work with anything your fellow NU: carnival fans may come up with.
• While content restrictions are loose, the following is prohibited from the event overall:
  • hate speech and bigotry
  • plagiarism and AI-generated content
  • references to real-life politics, religions, controversies, tragedies, etc.
• Works should only include canon characters and settings. Minor & off-screen characters can be mentioned (Lucien, Zaro, Kolt, etc), but for the purposes of this event, the focus should generally stay on Eiden and the clan members.
• Writers should not negate the previous writer’s work. The point of this project is to collaborate and ‘yes, and’ to the best of your ability.
  • For example, if one passage ends in a new character show up, do not immediately make them disappear. You can, however, bring in another character you might be more interested in writing about.

Writing

Once the person before you has submitted their work, you will be contacted by the mod (Ness). After that initial message, you’ll have 72 hours to submit your work to the form I send you. It’s up to you to keep track of your deadline after that, as I will not be sending out reminders.

If you cannot write your piece in the allotted time, please let me know ASAP and I can move you down in the queue. If you don’t give me a heads up or submit your work by the end of your writing period, you will be dropped from the event.

The queue may shift as writers drop out or change places, but as long as they don’t make any changes themselves, the first and last writers will remain the same throughout the event.
