Guidelines

• Works must focus on a non-monogamous character/relationship in some way. This could mean a polycurious character, a couple in an open relationship, a closed triad, a big polycule with the whole cast involved... anything! It's fine to focus on a pair, as long as they're part of a non-monogamous arrangement.
• All characters and ships are welcome; this includes OCs and reader/self-inserts.
• Any sort of transformative work is welcome; art, fic, playlists, meta, moodboards, headcanons, cosplay, etc.
• Works in all languages are welcome.
• Works must be your own! Collaborations are more than welcome, but don't claim others' work as yours.
• Please do not blatantly bash characters or ships in your works. These events are meant to celebrate things we enjoy.
• Otherwise, there are no content restrictions; just tag your works properly. (With that said, our social media may contain tagged NSFW.)

Partners & Overlapping Events

I’m happy to promote other SK8 events that overlap with PolySK8 events and encourage creators to participate in both! I just have a few requirements to keep things consistent:

• Your event is polyship-friendly (obviously).
• Your guidelines line up with PolySK8’s. This means no content restrictions such as exclusion of characters, ships, “problematic” topics, etc. (SFW-only events are welcome, but just keep in mind that PolySK8 does allow NSFW.)
• Your event takes place during a PolySK8 event, or has any overlapping dates.
• Participants should be able to create a single work that can be submitted to both events. Whether the events share similar themes, or the themes are general enough to allow for overlap, either way!

What is a polyship?

A polyship is a ship that involves three or more characters. Some prominent polyships in the SK8 fandom are EdenSnake (Adam/Langa/Tadashi) and MatchaLoveBlossom (Joe/Adam/Cherry). All characters in the ship don't necessarily have to be romantically/sexually involved with each other to qualify for these events— for example, SnowGear (Reki/Langa) and Eden (Adam/Langa) could coexist in a work without Adam and Reki dating each other. Relationships can also be intimate and/or committed without being romantic or sexual. How you portray these relationships is entirely up to you!

What isn't a polyship?

Polyships aren't about cheating. Cheating can happen in polyamorous relationships (if rules are broken, or something happens that everyone doesn't consent to), so you're welcome to portray cheating within your works. However, as an example, a work in which Ainosuke and Tadashi are in a monogamous relationship and Tadashi sleeps with Joe wouldn't qualify for the events— unless they decide to arrange a consensual poly relationship as a result.

Does my work have to focus on a specific polyship?

It depends on the nature of the event, but in general, nope! If you’d like to portray a single character exploring the idea of polyamory, or a two-person couple opening up their relationship, that’s fine too!

I’m Ness! My pronouns are they/he/she.

My favorite part of SK8 is how complex the web of relationships between characters is, and the potential for all different sorts of dynamics. I’m an aromantic relationship anarchist and I prefer to write non-traditional relationships as much as I can. I made the PolySK8 Hub because I had a hard time creating works for events that were focused on a single romantic relationship, and I wanted to encourage more polyship/non-traditional ship fanworks within the fandom.

My favorite polyship is a constellation between Adam, Cherry, Joe, Langa, Reki, and Tadashi, but I’m open to exploring all different things 👀
